Southtowns Physical Therapy
participates with the majority of insurance plans available in the
Western New York region. For general information on your plan, click
on the appropriate link below. Please note that there are variations
within each plan, therefore, for specific rules and guidelines pertaining
to your contract, you should consult with your employer, insurance
carrier or representative.
Many carriers require
pre-authorization for services. Prior to your first visit we will
contact your insurance company to obtain authorization and determine
the limits of your coverage. In some instances, if you have already
received therapy in the same calendar year, your coverage may be
limited or denied by the carrier. It is imperative that you inform
the office staff of any services you may have received, including
the location, duration and nature of treatment. Failure to process
a claim due to incorrect patient information may result in your
being responsible for all outstanding charges.
Please note that some
carriers require a “referral” in order to consider the
claim for processing. Your primary care physician typically will issues
this referral, even if a specialist ordered your therapy. Please
realize that a "referral" is different from a “prescription”
or “script” which is the actual written order from the
physician.
In 2006, New York State passed a law allowing patients to seek treatment without first obtaining a physician prescription, however, some insurance carriers may still require a referral. Please check with your Members Service department if you have any questions regarding your specific coverage.
