"RESTORE" work conditioning is a rehabilitation program designed for the injured worker. Unlike traditional physical therapy program, RESTORE combines physical conditioning and functional training to create an environment to promote a successful return to work.
Traditional work hardening programs are expensive, time consuming and multi-disciplinary in nature (PT, OT, Psych and Vocational). As previous owners and operators of the Buffalo Industrial Work Hardening Center, the Senior Staff at Southtowns Physical Therapy recognized that the majority of injured workers were motivated to return to work. In addition, they typically didn't require the extensive services associated with work hardening. Instead, many of them could successfuly return to work through a well structured, progressive, work conditioning program. This led to the evolution of RESTORE.
RESTORE programs range from 3-5 days per week, 1-2 hours per day, for a period of 4-6 weeks. Prior to enrollment, each participant undergoes a Functional Capacity Evaluation. This test measures both physical and functional ability, compares it to specific requirements of a potential employment position, and provides appropriate recommendations.
